photo touch ups

i just wanted to share with everyone what goes into some photos. a number of images posted here are cleaned up to keep the quality as high as possible, meaning, erasing some stray hairs, removing some lint, and simple cropping to make the image more visually appealing and interesting. some, on the other hand are simply "touched-up" and bluntly edited.

most of my clients, friends and family don't mind and would PREFER that i help them lose a pound or two, even give back some years by removing wrinkles and CHINS, on a few images they really like. below are some examples of what's possible.

hey, your photography rocks! i just came across your blog and i'm a big fan! i'd love to learn how to take better photos. would you mind answering a few questions? how do you make the color in your photos pop? photoshop actions? if so, which one? what kind of camera and lens do you use? my email is junkim2006{at}gmail.com. thanks so much!!!

= ) i have a fan! coolio.

rather than emailing you, i'd much rather post a reply here... that way, i can automatically share with other people as well.

making the image pop - place images in photoshop, adjust to color correct, increase saturation by 7 and add some contrast. no one scripts or actions can be used because all images are different.

BUT!!!!! before any images go into any photo editing software, one should understand how to "paint with light". remember, photography is about light and nothing else. i would recommend going to http://www.strobist.blogspot.com/ and read-up, my friend. if you don't have one already, i would definitely get an external flash rather spending ridiculously large amount of money on any glass.

i love my 20d coupled with the 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC sigma lens. love it!
